Seattle bicyclists should take note that riding Felt bicycles that were recalled due to a fall risk could increase risk of an accident. California-based Felt Bicycles recalled approximate 150 Felt Cyclocross bicycles. According to a Consumer Product Safety Commission report, it issued the recall due to a defect that could cause the bicycle frame to break, leading the rider to lose control of the bicycle. The bicyclist could fall off, sustaining serious injuries.
The company has not received reports of any accidents or injuries involving the bicycles. However, it is warning bicyclists that there is the potential for injuries if a bicyclist suffers a fall when the frame breaks.
Bicycles Involved in the Felt Bicycle Recall
The Felt bicycle recall includes the Felt Cyclocross 2015, models F65X and F85X. The F65X comes with a satin black aluminum frame featuring white stripes and the word “Felt” printed in white letters. The F85X bicycle comes with a dark red, berry-colored aluminum frame and features stripes in black, mint green and yellow. These bicycles were manufactured in Taiwan and sold across the country between June 2014 and September 2014.
What to Do If You Own a Felt Bicycle
If you currently own one of the Felt Cyclocross bicycles included in the recall, stop using the bicycle immediately. They involve a potentially serious defect, and if you fall off while riding the bicycle, you're at risk of serious injuries including fractures, head and spine injuries.
