Defective Bicycle Shock Absorbers Increase Accident Risks for Kirkland Cyclists

Free Case Evaluation

Bicycle components can fail for a number of reasons. They could contain design defects that contribute to accidents or manufacturing flaws that increase bicyclists' risk of injury. Whatever the problem, bicycle defects are serious and must never be ignored because a Kirkland bicyclist is at a much higher risk of suffering injuries in an accident. As a responsible bicyclist, you must stay abreast of bicycle recall information so that you are aware whenever there is an alert about a defective component in your bicycle.

Cane Creek Rear Shock Absorber Recall

Recently, Cane Creek Cycling Components recalled its line of bicycle rear shock absorbers. According to the company, its DBINLINE range of bicycle shock absorbers is inaccurately marked with graphics that wrongly identify adjustment instructions. If a bicyclist follows those instructions, he or she could suffer unexpected consequences, including a bicycle suspension malfunction and a fall accident.

The company received at least four complaints related to the defect. At least one of those accidents resulted in injuries. The bicycle shock absorbers were sold in black anodized aluminum and feature the word "INLINE." The recalled bicycle shock absorbers have the following serial numbers.

  • AA00002 – AA07304
  • SA00077 – SA03926

The bicycle shock absorbers were sold with mountain bikes below.

  • 2015 Alutech – Tofane
  • 2015 Banshee – Phantom and Spitfire
  • 2015 Bianchi – Methanol 29
  • 2015 Canyon – Spectral 140 – 27.5 and 29, and Strive CF
  • 2015 Ghost – AMR Riot 130
  • 2015 Guerilla – Gravity Megatrail
  • 2015 Ibis – Ripley 29
  • 2015 Intense – Tracer, Carbine 29 and Spyder 29 Comp
  • 2015 Knolly – Warden
  • 2015 Nicolai – Helius
  • 2015 Norco – Sight Carbon 7.1
  • 2015 Nukeproof – Mega TR
  • 2015 Orange – Five and Five 29
  • 2015 Specialized – Enduro 650B and 29

If you own any of these bicycles, check if the bicycle shock absorbers are included in the recall. The recalled bicycle shock absorbers feature the serial numbers on the underside of the top valve body.
